The Florida Bar has appointed Janelle A. Weber, founder of the Law Office of Janelle A. Weber, to its Consumer Protection Law Committee.

Each year the president-elect of The Florida Bar appoints interested Bar members to serve on standing committees.

“I am honored to serve on the Consumer Protection Law Committee,” Ms. Weber said. “I’m excited to work with my colleagues on the issues that are so important to consumers throughout our State.”

The committee’s mission is to “educate consumers and Bar members about consumer protection laws and current issues through such means as public outreach events, public service messages, CLE programs, consumer publications, non-partisan technical assistance memoranda on proposed legislation, and providing expert resources to The Florida Bar, the Judiciary, and the Legislature,” according to the Florida Bar.

The committee meets on several occasions throughout the year, including at the Florida Bar Annual Convention.

A primary focus of Ms. Weber’s practice is representing consumers in lawsuits against creditors and debt collectors for debt collection harassment, unauthorized robocalls, and credit report errors. Law Office of Janelle A. Weber pursues claims for violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”), Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act (“FCCPA”), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”), and Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”).

Ms. Weber, a former journalist, previously served on the Florida Bar’s Media and Communications Law Committee.

Law Office of Janelle A. Weber is a Tampa law firm focusing on commercial litigation, family law appeals, and consumer finance litigation. The firm serves Tampa Bay, Carrollwood, Wesley Chapel, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Safety Harbor, and the greater Tampa Bay region.
