Janelle A. Weber, founder of the Law Office of Janelle A. Weber, P.A., visited a Tampa-area nursing home as part of the Elves for Elders holiday gift drive on December 22, 2018.

Ms. Weber, together with her elf-sized daughter, 9-month-old Geneva, attended the event with the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Dressed in elf and Santa hats and other festive garb, the volunteers sang Christmas carols, distributed gifts and treats, and spread holiday cheer to the residents.

“It was a special event,” Weber said. “We stopped at one resident’s room and sang Silent Night. It turns out she is a former school music teacher and voice coach, and Silent Night was one of her favorite carols. I hope we didn’t disappoint!”

Elves for Elders is a fundraising drive that benefits indigent seniors in the Tampa area. The seniors are among the 230 wards served by Aging Solutions, Inc., the Office of the Public Guardian for Hillsborough, Pinellas, Brevard, Manatee and Pasco Counties.

Ms. Weber and her former law firm, Shutts & Bowen, fulfilled the items on dozens of seniors’ wish lists. Ms. Weber’s recipient’s special requests included a cat calendar and cat-motif bag for her wheelchair. Some of the recipients have no family and only receive a small monthly stipend for their personal spending.

“It really makes a difference in their lives,” Weber said.
